About GGI
GGI is created by over 1000 volunteers across the world who support and connect women in real life and online so they can feel part of a community wherever they move to!

Our Story
Girl Gone International was founded by Anne Scott in Hamburg in 2010, her 10th city in 10 years. She was feeling very lost and alone in the world. Social media was just starting in Europe so she decided to go online and try to find other women living like her, far from home, friends, family and the familiar.
Anne quickly realised that there were hundreds of immigrant women living in Hamburg and hundreds of thousands across the world. By listening to the first GGI members' stories she learned that every woman's life journey and experience was unique - yet all the members shared the same need for connection and community.
So Anne embarked on what has become a life's mission : to create a world where women feel they can move anywhere and belong everywhere.
Her mission very quickly became a shared mission as hundreds of volunteers joined to create GGI communities locally and globally.
GGI is here today because of the commitment of over 2200 GGI volunteers who over 14 years have created over 250 local communities that connect online and meet in real life at one of so far 40,000 events!
